Zara Tindall had her own personal cheerleader on hand at the Gatcombe Horse Trials this weekend as her three-year-old Mia, flanked by other family members, watched Tindall compete.

Mia Tindall was seen at the Horse Trials on Gatcombe Estate Park in Gloucestershire, the home of her grandmother, Anne, Princess Royal, cheering on her mother on Mothering Sunday.

She was spotted along with her father, Mike, grandmother, grandfather, aunt and uncle, and cousins Savannah and Isla Phillips – the daughters of Uncle Peter Phillips and Aunt Autumn.

The family Boxer, Spey, was also spotted on the grounds, following in his young owner’s stead as she led him around the fields.

Zara was competing on the second day of the Horse Trials, in the Spring Land Rover Novice and Intermediate Event on her horse Fernhill Facetime.

Sixteen countries participated in the Trials: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Great Britain, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

This year marked the 23rd Gatcombe Horse Trials, and featured events in dressage, show jumping and cross-country. The Princess Royal hosts the event on her estate and hands out prizes throughout the weekend. A separate event takes place in the fall, the Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa International CIC* & CIC**.

The British Royal Family is inextricably linked to a love of horses and equestrian. The Queen is routinely photographed riding her horses, and has spent a lifetime dedicated to this passion. Princess Anne was a celebrated equestrian who won several European Championships, and competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

Zara competed as a member of the British Equestrian Team in the 2012 Olympics and won a silver medal in team eventing. She has medalled in several World and European Championships, and narrowly missed earning a spot on the team for the Rio Olympics because of problems with her horse.
