The Queen and members of The Royal Family attended the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday – their first engagement since the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Saturday.

Her Majesty was joined at the flower show by her Princess Anne, Princess Alexandra, the Earl & Countess of Wessex, the York family and the Duke & Duchess of Gloucester who exclusively joined other VIP guests to tour the gardens before the gates of the yearly festival open to the public on Tuesday.

The royal party were greeted by Sir Nicholas Bacon who serves as the President of the Royal Horticultural Society.

Other famous faces who are attending Monday’s preview include Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Alan Titchmarsh, Piers Morgan and Joanna Lumley

Prime Minister Theresa May was also in attendance in the morning and was shown a ‘genuine Yorkshire cowpat’ in the Welcome to Yorkshire garden.

Established in 1913, the Chelsea Flower Show has become the pinnacle of the horticultural calendar and is one of The Queen’s favourite events to attend.

This year’s Chelsea Flower Show will host over 500 exhibitions and is believed to have attracted a crowd of over 160,000 visitors from all around the world. The event is now sold out for the entire four days.

The Queen serves as the patron of the Royal Horticultural Society, the organisation responsible for organising the event. During her reign, she has attended all but 12 of the flower shows
