Buckingham Palace has revealed the names of the bridesmaids and page boys at Princess Eugenie’s upcoming wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Friday. One of the children who has been given the special job on the day is Isla Phillps – the great-grandchild The Queen and daughter of Peter & Autumn.
Isla Elizabeth Phillips was born on 29 March 2012, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, to The Queen’s oldest grandson, Peter and his wife, Autumn Phillips. Isla has one older sister, Savannah Anne Kathleen (b. 2010).
Isla Phillips was born in H.M. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year of 2012 and weighed 7lbs and 4oz (3.3 kg). She was the second great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and the second grandchild for Anne, the Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips. Even though it was never confirmed, her middle name “Elizabeth” is very likely to refer to her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. At her time of birth, she was 13th in line to the throne. After the birth of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, she is now 16th in line to the throne. Just like her father, Peter, Isla holds no royal titles.
On Sunday 1 July 2012, Isla was christened in a low-key ceremony at St Nicholas’ Church in Gloucestershire. The church is just a couple minutes away from Gatcombe Park – Princess Anne’s house in Gloucestershire. In 2014, her cousin Mia Tindall was also christened there. In attendance were, among others, Isla’s grandmother the Princess Royal and her husband Timothy Laurence, grandfather Captain Mark Phillips, aunt Zara Tindall and uncle Mike Tindall. The godparents of the little girl were, just like her sister’s, never announced.
Isla wore a satin and lace gown for her christening which was a replica of the one made for Queen Victoria’s daughter in 1841. Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, was the last to wear the original christening gown, commissioned by Queen Victoria. The replica was made by The Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly. James, Viscount Severn, son of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, was the first royal baby to wear the replica dress in 2008. Isla’s sister Savannah Phillips has worn the replica at her christening in 2011, as well.
Isla Elizabeth lives with her parents, Peter and Autumn Phillips, and sister, Savannah in London. The family lives a low-key life away from the press. Both Isla and Savannah are not taken along by their parents at official events.
Both Isla and Savannah usually only make one public appearance each year at Trooping the Colour where they often steal the show during The Royal Family’s balcony appearance.
