Who was in the Royal Box for The Queen’s birthday concert?

Thousands of people attended The Queen’s birthday concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, with millions more tuning in from around the world. But the best seats in the house were reserved for members of one particular family.

Here we take a look at who was sat in the royal box for The Queen’s birthday party.

The Queen

There cannot be a birthday party without the person who is celebrating. The Queen sat on the front row of the royal box for her birthday treat.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall

Prince Charles and Camilla sat on the right-hand side of The Queen. The Prince of Wales later joined his mother on stage to deliver a short speech.

The Duke of York

Prince Andrew arrived at the Royal Albert Hall with his mother by car and escorted her into the building. He was at on the front row next to the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duke of Cambridge

The Queen’s grandson, Prince William, was sat to the left of The Queen. He attended the event solo as the heavily pregnant Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth any day.

The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence

Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, were sat next to the Duke of Cambridge.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank

The youngest York daughter was joined in the royal box by her fiance, Jack Brooksbank. The pair are due to get married in October.

Princess Beatrice

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eldest daughter also attended the concert and was sat next to her sister, Eugenie.

The Wessex Family

Also present at the concert was the Wessex family. Prince Edward returned from a visit to Australia a couple of days ago, but still attended his mother’s celebration along with his wife, Sophie, and daughter, Lady Louise.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Sat on the second row to the left of the Wessex Family was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple were seen to clap along to some of the performances, with Prince Harry later taking to the stage to deliver a speech about The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

Peter and Autumn Phillips

At the back of the Royal Box was Peter Phillips, the eldest child of Princess Anne. Peter was joined by his wife, Autumn, but Isla and Savannah stayed at home. Also absent was the heavily pregnant Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike.

Princess Alexandra

In the perimeter of the Royal Box were The Queen’s extended family. This included her cousin, Princess Alexandra, The Hon Lady Ogilvy.

The Duke of Kent

Sat next to Princess Alexandra was the Duke of Kent. There was no sign of the Duchess of Kent, who makes very few public appearances.

The Earl of St Andrews and Lady Marina Windsor

The Duke and Duchess of Kent’s son, the Earl of St Andrews was also present in the royal box. He was joined by his daughter, Lady Marina Windsor

Prince & Princess Michael of Kent

Also present were Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor

Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, was also present alongside his wife, Sophie Winkleman. This is one of Sophie’s first public appearances since being seriously injured in a car crash last year.

Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto

Princess Margaret’s only daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto, was present at the Royal Albert Hall, alongside her husband, Daniel.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

Also at the concert was The Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Gloucester, and his wife, Birgitte.

Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah

Although not a royal, pictured standing at the back of the Royal Box was The Queen’s equerry, Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah. He was there to provide Her Majesty with assistant should she need it.
